A Moment To Rest

There is a tangible space –

A holy place found within the aperture –

Suspended in time as transient relief,

Existing inside the gap

Between pleasure and grief.

A crack of respite that restores the strain of the heart;

A sliver of refuge within the skein of feeling it all.

This terrain is hard to come by…

She can only touch it if willing to fall,

Willing to lose it all (except herself).

The free-fall into the black abyss

Is where she grabs hold of it.

Plunging fast and hard

In love or woe.

The flavor of the fall is irrelevant

When the heart is open to it all.

Consumed by the chasm of ongoing sensations,

The interlude uncovers her strong foundation.

It’s been there all along.

A place to experience the range of emotions

Without collapsing within the heart’s commotion.

This invisible ledge lends itself in granting her perspective.

 It extends out,

Bridging the cavity

And interrupting her free-fall.

A moment to rest.

To process this illusory mess:

What it means to live with an open heart…

...

It’s only a transitory breath.

And then the ledge dissolves,

And the heart begins to fall again.

Yet, this time with that perspective…

Yes, her range of feeling is infinite,

And the free-fall is endless,

But so is the heart’s resiliency.

She was born for this.

Love,

The Feminine Heart

I spent my whole life searching for love outside of myself; it wasn't until I found it within me that he appeared.

"Love in The City: Tales from the Feminine Heart" is a column devoted to vulnerably conveying the words of my heart through the unfolding of the greatest love I've ever known.
